Common.
When you think of the word common, you should think about the things that are similar. If we have a common background, it means we share similarities--maybe the family structure, schooling, environment. It brings us together as we celebrate things we have the same.
Have you ever stopped to think that the main mantra for our society is--
CELEBRATE OUR DIVERSITY! or CELEBRATE OUR DIFFERENCES!
And then we turn around and try to create unity.
Did you ever stop to think that as long as we focus on celebrating our differences, we will NEVER be able to promote unity?
No.
Instead, we must celebrate what we have in COMMON.
If we would just set our DIFFERENCES aside, we would see that we all truly desire the same common things...
We all want to have food to eat.
We all want to have jobs to provide for our family.
We all want to have a family to love and care for us.
We all want a home to go to every night that is a safe place.
We want to know that we don't need to live in fear for tomorrow and what it might bring.
We want our loved ones to be healthy and free from sickness and disease.
We have hundreds, no THOUSANDS of differences--absolutely. Our policies are NOT the same. Our BELIEFS are not the same. But as long as we focus the country on how we are DIFFERENT, we will never...NEVER be able to become ONE NATION. It's our COMMON interests that can bind us. When we do what is the best to meet the basic needs we all will have the same goal--because honestly, our basic needs ARE the same. THEN and ONLY THEN will be have a united nation.
But that means we must change.
No more focus on celebrating and pushing our diversity (the true place where we collide)
And that's just not going to happen in this lifetime.
God speed the day when we truly can become
ONE NATION
UNDER GOD
INDIVISIBLE
WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE
FOR ALL.
ps. Since I wrote this post this morning, my family was in a rollover accident. Praise the Lord we were all relatively unharmed and walked away. My car was totaled, but God was so good and His hand in the whole thing can clearly be seen. I am asking for prayers on my behalf as I deal with the body ache and soreness that comes from any severe car accident. Also, for my boys to also not suffer from too much soreness as well. Have a most blessed weekend and love on your family tonight. You never know what the next day might bring.
