Farm Science Review ~ An Agricultural Field Trip! {PHOTO HEAVY!}

My husband first went to the Farm Science Review nearly 20 years ago, when he was still in college training to be a John Deere Technician. He's never forgotten the experience, and for the last 13 years has been telling our children how he wished he could take them there. Well, it worked out that this year, everything fell perfect! And so we scheduled a family agricultural field trip to attend the 2019 Farm Science Review near Columbus, OH.

What is the Farm Science Review?
The Molly Caren Agricultural Center (MCAC) near London, Ohio is home to the Farm Science Review and attracts upwards of 140,000 visitors from all over the United States and Canada, who come for three days to peruse 4,000 product lines from 600 commercial exhibitors, and learn the latest in agricultural production. The educational programs feature Ohio State and Purdue specialists and are second to none in the agricultural exhibition world.
It's basically an outdoor Farm and Machinery Show! There are 80 acres worth just of exhibitors, but the real gem is the 600+ acres set aside for field demonstrations, such as corn and soybean combines, tillage, nutrient and lime applications, and drainage installations. Visitors get to see the products IN ACTION!

Needless to say, for our farm family--this is like going to a theme park! LOL.

It was a PERFECT day! The sun was out and while we were hot, there wasn't any humidity in the air--meaning that it was manageable and great for T-shirts and shorts! The FSR gave our free ice-cold water bottles all over the acreage which was FANTASTIC for the attendees. And let's not forget the ice cream and milkshake vendors! LOL

We spent the WHOLE DAY there and boy, we were tired when it was over...but it was a great experience and a very educational one for the boys.

FIELD DEMONSTRATIONS!

Field Demonstration was like--best thing ever for these boys.
Hot and sweaty, but having a grand time!
His most favorite tractor of them all!

 WHAT DID I DO?
I enjoyed getting a new bandana and shirt.
He also bought me two jars of local honey!

 And I LOVED the huge blooming memorial garden!

UH. And the mini-donuts. Like seriously. Hot. Fresh made. Mini-donuts!

The boys loved this day. Not only did they get a rare field trip WITH their daddy (aka. the principal and AG teacher), but they learned a LOT about different aspects of agriculture and the equipment used. Daddy answered SOOO many of their questions and then took the time to discuss different things or point out different things. He also gave them an essay question to complete at home relating to the things he talked to them about and they saw.

It was nice to be the "class chaperone" for a change! LOL. I simply taught them how to best eat fresh sugared donuts. ;)
