Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks~ Imagination in a Bag! {Product Review}
We are a hands-on family. We love anything that involves getting involved with a full sensory experience. We also love building blocks and anything the boys can manipulate into their imaginary world of construction and farming. We recently were given the Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks from Brain Blox to review—as soon as I saw the product, I had a feeling these were going to bring hours of enjoyment.
About the Product
Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks are 100% natural wooden building planks made from New Zealand pine wood. Because they are chemical-free, they are also non-toxic! This means that even the youngest and smallest in the family can safely enjoy these planks. The wooden planks are precision cut, thus making them the perfect building toy providing hours of endless enjoyment.
The Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks are available in three set sizes: 100, 200, and 300 planks. For this review, we were given the 200 plank package to explore. The 200 planks set includes:
200 solid wood, precision cut Building Planks, Full Color Build Ideas Booklet, Red Canvas Drawstring Backpack for storage or building on the go, and FREE Brain Blox World eBook along with access to our Build Idea videos!
We received the planks and the boys immeadiately tore into the package. They couldn’t wait to get started. We found that the planks came with a great drawstring red bag to store them in. There are 200 planks in the set and it comes with a little pamphlet with some ideas for buildling with the planks. From easy projects like chairs and bridges to more complicated towers and building creations. I urged the boys to try out the projects on the pamphlet before going off on their own creations. They liked that each product tells you how many planks are used, even if you have to examine it closely to see the actual construction.
The first time they played with the set, they attempted a table and chairs, a bridge, and a puzzle tower. My oldest son decided to make the puzzle tower twice as tall and he enjoyed creating the more intricate structure.
Throughout the review, they have made nearly all of the creations in the pamphlet—I put together the sample of the Parthenon. They spent the largest amount of time just going rogue with their building. They tried to see how high of a tower they could build, then stacked them up to capture it falling in slow-mo. And then took the time to make a domino effect of a large portion of the planks.
They’ve made bridges of all different sizes and then proceeded to drive their tractors and trucks across them.
The favorite thing right now is to treat the planks as logs or actual planks of lumber and haul them all over the house with the various building block creations. I’m always finding plank piles in the corners of the living room or classroom. Or I will turn and see them being hauled in a big tractor truckload.
While my 9 and 13-year-old have thoroughly enjoyed playing with the planks, my two-year-old nephew has also enjoyed playing with them. Because of their non-toxic material, even the youngest child could be occupied with the planks. They are guaranteed for hours of fun and creation!
If your child makes a grand creation, the company encourages you to share it on social media and tag them for recognition. I’ve shared a few of our projects and the company has responded with praise for the boys' creativity.
We highly recommend this product to any family. Not only are they the perfect product let imagination soar, but they are non-toxic so you don’t have to worry about anything harmful getting in their mouths or systems. I also love being able to tell them to just put them up in their bag for easy storage.
