More later...

Just a quick note to let you know that I am alive and plan to do some blogging soon. This last month has been a blur and the next one doesn't look like it's going to be much slower! But for now, I'm enjoying that today is Friday. Which means tomorrow starts the weekend with my Sabbath rest day, my most favorite day of the week. It's also my anniversary tomorrow. Hard to believe it's 16 years. Wow.
As I said, there will be more later. So for now, I just wish you a most wonderful and peaceful weekend. 💙

10 Brain Engaging Gifts Under $25 for Children {Gift Guide 2018}

10 Brain Engaging Gifts Under $25 for ChildrenIt's just one week before Thanksgiving (Yikes!), and that means it's one week before all those wonderful sales kick in gear! There are so many toy ideas for kids, but let's be honest...do we really want to buy our kids MORE toys like dolls, trucks, video games, ect? LOL. If I'm going to buy a gift for a child, I'd prefer buying something that will engage their mind with critical thinking or gearing up their imagination! Today I'm going to share 10 Gifts Under $25 for Children which aren't your typical toys, but are still a lot of fun--in fact, our family owns and plays with several of them regularly!

The Solace of Water by Elizabeth Byler Younts {Book Review}

Do you like meaty books? I mean like fiction books that make you uncomfortable and don't end with a feel good feeling. I don't always reach for them, but every now and then I am willing to give them a try. When I was initially sent The Solace of Water by Elizabeth Byler Yates to review, the book cover presented a story that although peeked my interest, it didn't grab me right away. I recently decided to pick it up and give it a try, and discovered a very deep rich story about racism, secrets, grief, and the power of forgiveness and friendship. I'd like to give you a peek into this book and let you know what I took away from it in my review today.

Freedom's Light by Colleen Coble {Book Review}

I have been a fan of Colleen Coble's books for quite awhile. She is one of the few contemporary fiction authors that I enjoy reading. She only has a few historical fiction books, so imagine my surprise when I was sent Freedom's Light, an inspirational historical fiction book set in the Revolutionary War, to review. I hoped that it would have the intriguing plot that I have come to love in her books. Join me today, as I share my review of this new release!

Adventures in Crochet: My Favorite Yarn Brands

Hello, my friends! Just wanted to give you another hobby update with my crochet adventures! I've actually put myself on a "yarn freeze" even though I hate it. LOL. But I refuse to buy more yarn, until I USE UP some of the beautiful skeins of yarn I have already. I'll be sharing some photos of what things I'm making to do this in a later post.

Now I have been getting asked quite often what yarn brands I would recommend to people wanting to explore crocheting. There are a dizzying amount of brands out there and yes, some are MUCH better than others--but it can be hard to know this if you aren't experienced or know what to look for. So, I will take time today to share my thoughts on some of the popular yarn brands you will find in most craft stores around the United States...and you will learn how I rate them and what makes the list as being the favorites in my basket!
