Adventures in Crochet ~ Project Updates and the Temperature Blanket

Time for an update for those of my fiber friends among you of my Adventures in Crochet! All of this winter weather definitely has me in the crochet mood. I just love sitting on the couch with a cup of hot coffee or tea as I watch a favorite on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I have a pile of yarn usually somewhere around me in some stage of crochet and boy, is that a happy place! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to crochet for a couple weeks because of horrible sciatic pain in my left hip. I'm a side sitter when I'm on the couch, so that puts pressure on my nerves...at least that's what my chiropractor tells me over and over. LOL. Regardless, I've still been able to work on a few things, as well as line up some others! I've also loaded it full of pictures so you can see all my projects!

Frogged...

Before...
Well one of the biggest things I have done recently is deciding to frog (aka. unravel) a top that I first started back in 2017. Yes, 2017! LOL. Needless to

Drawing Closer to God~ Our Biblical Studies Curriculum for 2018-2019

Biblical Studies Curriculum 2018-2019
In my current series of discussing the curriculum we are using and our routine, I have pointed out that one of the most important things that I’ve included this year relates to increasing biblical knowledge. In my last post, I shared the memorization system that we are using to “hide scripture” in our hearts.

(You can snag a copy of my printable if you check out that post!)

Today, I want to share the two bible study programs that we are using with each boy to further increase their overall bible knowledge. These studies are enjoyable and only add about 15 minutes of time to our day!

Your Word Have I Hidden In My Heart: Memory Verse Work System with Printable

Memory Verse Work with Free Printable
As I mentioned in my post about our daily homeschool routine, one of the most important changes to our schedule this year, was incorporating a system for memorizing scripture and other Bible related passages. This is a priority in our classroom, and how we start every day. I have looked at many official "programs" for doing it, but I needed something simple that worked with ANY scripture I wanted, as I had personal favorites I wanted to make sure we went over. Thus, my current (successful, I will add) memory verse system was born! Today I'm going to share with you, not just WHAT it looks like over the course of the week, but also a printable that you can use to easily and quickly add it to your own day!

Our Homeschool Daily Routine and Curriculum

Can you believe that we are now in the SECOND week of the new year? What I also cannot believe is that I’m already thinking about what materials we are going to be using for NEXT school year! I mean, we aren’t even half way yet really…but if you are a homeschooler like me, you know you are already evaluating what you are doing now and thinking about what to do next year. Today I thought I’d share what we are actually using successfully this year. In other words, what does our daily routine look like with the subjects and materials we have? Over the course of this week (and perhaps even into next week), I will be talking about the different things we are doing in our day.

To start with, here is an example of our daily routine. The things that we do every day are completed before lunch, while the things that vary by day are done after lunch.

Welcome 2019!

It's 2019! Can you believe it? I know we all thought it was going to be a year when we lived on the moon and had hovercrafts and robots! It's amazing how far technology has come--and yet how much life in general remains the same. With this new year, I'm sure everyone has plans or goals they want to achieve. I have friends who started Whole 30 and Whole 60 to kickstart their path to better health. Many people I know are taking the Marie Kondo challenge of decluttering and simplifying their home. We kicked off 2019 by doing a smidge of renovation--nothing major, just fresh paint on the walls of several of our rooms, and changing out fixtures. It has given new life to our home of 13 years! Isn't it funny how once you do it, you can hardly remember what it looked like before? I know we are loving the changes we've made.
