Our Thoughts on the Product
My son was eager to start with book #5 as he’d begged me for it, back when he’d finished #4. He started it and couldn’t put it down. He loved the story of David and he took great joy out of figuring out the hidden scroll’s message BEFORE the kids in the story did and shared with me that he already knew who the mysterious man in black was.

HAD to take it with him |
I think he most looked forward to reading book #6. This is because he’s been on a kick about all things related to Babylon and the stories in the book of Daniel. He loved the there was mention of BOTH key stories in Babylon in the book (the children meet Shadrach who is now a storekeeper, through the events of the story. He shares his own trials with not obeying what someone in authority tells them to do that goes against his beliefs.) When I asked my son what part was his favorite--he said "All of it? I really did like all of it the best! And Hank. I like Hank too." Hank is the dog. LOL.
One of the other highlights of the books is definitely the illustrations. We love the little pen and ink illustrations and pop up in the story.
In regards to the series itself, I think it would be possible to start at any point in the series, yet I don’t know that I would say they are stand-alone. The stories frequently mention events or people from previous “adventures,” so I would totally recommend reading the series in order if possible. 100% necessary? No. Suggested? Yes.
This series really is an excellent way for children to explore famous and exciting biblical events. The stories are exciting and the books are just the right length for elementary chapter books. I am so glad that I have been able to review all six of the ones that are currently available and to own them. The next book in the series will move forward in time to the exciting arrival of Christ to earth. It will be interesting to see how the series continues—if it does—into the New Testament adventures. I could easily see the books letting the children meet the disciples on the boat in the storm when Christ walks on the water, or some of the people who were healed by Christ, or the conversion of Paul. Yes, so many possibilities!
