Five Question Friday (5QF) for August 2nd

1. What is on your Summer 2013 bucket list?
Go camping! We haven't gone yet this year and I want to go realllllllllly bad! We love camping but this summer has been nuts!

2. What is the most useless item on your child's back to school list?
Um, nothing? LOL! When we homeschool we can make our OWN back to school lists!

3. What is the one reality TV show that makes no sense to you?
Just one????????????????????? REality TV, how I loathe you...let me count the ways...

4. What is one movie you can watch over and over again? Why?
Oh my. There are so many! But my favorites:
#1 Anne of Green Gables. Gilbert Blythe....the end.
#2 Pride and Prejudice...Mr. Darcy...enough said. But only the BBC miniseries version because Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy takes it to a whole new level of awesome.
#3 High Society...Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby...need I say more?

5. What's your favorite back to school tradition?
Even though we homeschool, we still make a list of B2S supplies we will need and go shopping like everyone else! Nothing like a brand new box of crayons and a shiney new folder!

Have a blessed and beautiful day!

Five Question Friday (5QF) for July 26th

1. What is your best secret cleaning tip?
Um. Just do it? LOL! Me giving cleaning tips. Oh now THAT is classic. LOL! Seriously though, the #1 thing that has helped me in the past few months stay on top of the messes is simply "if you make it dirty, wash it. If you take it out, put it away. If you open it, close it." And with this simple mantra I've really been doing a lot better.

2. What is your favorite food to snack on during movie night?
Chips for SURE! Or maybe a nice bowl of fresh popped popcorn. But I am good with just eating a whole bag small portion of chips.

3. If it was up to you, what would you have named the royal baby?
Hmmm. I know they are all traditionalists with the names of the baby. Giving them ancestor names. But I think I would have done ALEXANDER George Louis instead of putting the George first. I like the name Alex much better.

4. If you could be any Disney character who would you choose?
Hmmm. Mary Poppins! She had a great bag of tricks, a smile on her face, a song on her lips and the pretty hand talent of snapping to make everything go back where it belonged. Do you even KNOW the time that would save me in this house of boys???

5. What's the most important part of a healthy relationship?
Love and Respect. Too many couples have issues with respect. I see it around me all the time. The way they talk to their mates just makes me cringe. And love--learning your mates love languages can save a lot of heartache. My husband and I tested for ours early in our marriage and once we learned them a lot of things made sense and now we work to make sure we "speak" each other's languages.

Five Question Friday (5QF) for July 19th

Time for a bit of randomness...
1. What is one thing you have too many of in your house?
Well besides dust bunnies, if you wanted actual objects, I'd probably say...pens! I am a total pen junkie!

2. Did anything go not quite as planned on your wedding day?
Hmmm...the guys were late meeting us that morning for photos. Some came in who weren't even dressed! But it went very well. I got married and that's all the matters right?

3. What is your favorite summer smoothie recipe?
Oooh, I'm still trying to figure this out. I love smoothies and we are playing around with a lot of different recipes. But we know we love them heavy on the berries! We also like to toss in a handful of oats and greens of some kind.

4. What is the weather like where you are?
H O T
This week has been in the 90's all week with horrid humidity and heat index in the 100's. My AC was broken for 5 days too! It just got fixed on Tuesday! Woot! I was oh so grateful!

5. What is your favorite book to read to your kids?
We have a lot of favorites. It really depends on the season because we are always rotating books. But I know they will always love it when I read Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel or if I pull out Katy and the Big Snow. They always love books about vehicles and we especially enjoy books by Virginia Lee Burton! If you haven't read them to your children yet, you should check them out!

Five Question Friday (5QF) for July 12th

1. Would you rather pay for house cleaner or spa day?
HOUSE CLEANER hands down!!!

2. Who plans what gifts you get for holidays, you or your spouse?
Well, we don't celebrate Christmas but when we do purchase gifts for family we might chat about it a little, but I usually get the response "You know what they like. Get whatever." Which is NEVER any help! LOL!

3. How many hours of sleep do you get? Do you need more?
Typically I end up with about 6-7 hrs of sleep. I can easily sleep 8 or 9, but I'm functional with a bare minimum of 6.

4. Do you like your hair long or short?
Long! But then I would cut it a bit shorter if my husband would let me. I prefer it closer to my shoulders because it's super thick...but he likes it down my back. So for him, I do it! He pays for me to get it taken care of (even highlighted) whenever I need it, so I can't complain!

5. When was the last time you were pulled over and what was it for?
Oh. Let's see. It was within the year I'm sorry to say. It was here in our hometown and it was very late on a Saturday night. I was in a one-track mind focusing on the various lists running through my head and I turned out in front of a police car and didn't know it. Then I didn't signal my intention to turn right. I didn't even notice he was flashing his lights for about 15 seconds I was so focused. But he just let me off with a warning. (Did I mention I live in a very small town?? LOL.) which was good because I didn't want to have to go home and tell my husband how a trip to get a movie from the store costed WAY more than $1.20. LOL!

Have a blessed day!

Five Question Friday for May 31st

Time for a random question post with...

1. What is an acceptable age for girls to start dating?
Um...well. I don't have girls right now but if I did...first let me say that we prefer COURTSHIP to dating. In our family you don't date for the fun of it. You COURT for marriage. We would not encourage courtship until about age 21. Though if my husband had a daughter to deal with--he'd change that to like...never. LOL!

2. Do you think your kids should have summer homework?
Well, since we homeschool, they have no choice! We do at least 1 day a week of some form of school during the summer. I find the retention is MUCH greater this way.

3. Would you prefer to live without AC or heat?
Oh now that is tough. I am going to say without AC---as long as I have WATER! I have lived without AC before...both here in Kentucky and back in Washington. It can be done. But I can't live without heat!

4. What the worst thing about staying in a hotel? (Besides not being with your family)
Usually the beds. I can tolerate about everything else. But if the bad is bad....

5. So, do your kids really get "104 days of summer vacation"?
Um, see answer to question #2! Haha. But we typically end our "normal" school beginning of June and don't pick it back up until beginning of August.

Have a most excellent weekend!

Five Question Friday for May 24th

It's another week for linking up with Five Question Friday...these are always fun because you never know the questions more than an evening in advance! So here goes!

1. Do you wake before the alarm or stay in bed until the last possible second?
Usually I don't budge until the alarm goes off...lately though I've gotten into such a routine that I wake up like 3 minutes before the alarm goes off. Seriously, body??? Three minutes?? But you know--when I have something important to do and getting up with the alarm is CRUCIAL, it always seems that my body wakes up sporadically before it ever goes off. Like 1 hour in advance. Or 20 minutes early. So weird how that happens.

2. Who should get a baby shower? Is it just the first baby or all babies?
Oh now that's a good question! I have always loved showering moms with their first babies...or, if they have a new little one after a LONNNNNG gap or if they've had lots of troubles getting pregnant. I went to one where the mom had a surprise baby after 6 other kids...so she really just needed new stuff. It had been over 10 years since her last child of that sex. That was fun. I also like little online showers for when you are far away and can send the mom something. I'm doing that for a friend who is pregnant with her 4th.

3. How will you spend Memorial Day?
With my family! If I was still living back in WA, we would be going camping with the extended family at the beach...but sadly we don't go camping over Memorial Day out here. I wish we would. We love to camp.

4. Do you have a Storm/Hurricane/Tornado/Fire plan for your kids, house..?
We have a tornado plan. Everyone knows where to go if we would have a tornado. Even my oldest knows. For fire---we need to review the plans for that. We recently attended a field trip to a Fire Museum and they spoke about fire safety so I know the time is right.

5. What is your favorite morning drink?
Mmmm...I ADORE a nice coffee mixed with hot chocolate with whipped cream!

Love these questions as they give me a fun post to share during the week about totally random stuff!

Five Question Friday~ May 10th

I love 5 Question Friday--but haven't participated in awhile--but I am today!

1. What's the one personal hygiene thing you will not do in front of your spouse? Um...haha. I think I'm going to have to say going #2--there might be a random walk-in moment, but that's just something I prefer privacy on. I hate it when I have to take my toddler with me into the bathroom because while I can't speak many words, he says "poopoo" loud and clear! And he gets excited if he sees it and shouts it with glee! (hiding head with shame) 2. What's your favorite thing about a newborn? I love that fresh and clean smell straight out of the bath--and I love how you can just snuggle and hold them for hours on end...I love it and I miss it and hope I get to experience it in the near future! 3. When is "too young" to have a Facebook account? Um--I really think that you need to be at LEAST in high school. But if possible--how about just wait until you are an adult! It seems like the filter on the teenagers minds and mouth these days just is getting worse and worse--as evidenced by the Facebook status' of my younger relatives! But even if a teenager--I think the mom and dad need to be checking up on it. I know that my friends with teenagers do. They visit their kids social media accounts daily and even have the passwords. 4. What are your hoping for on Mother's Day?
Something unexpected. A card from my husband--or a present from him and the boys. Usually I end up having to buy my OWN Mother's Day presents! Haha! I do have one picked out--a glass tea infuser travel mug from Mountain Rose Herbs!
It's on sale right now and I gotta have it! I love loose leaf tea, but sometimes I'm in a hurry and can't take it with me because it's too hot, not ready or whatever--but with this I can! Yep. I gotta have it.

5. What was the best field trip you ever took in school? Hmmm...I think the one I loved the most was when we went to Fort Clatsup in 4th grade. Very very cool and fueled my love of history. But I also loved when we went to OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) because that place is just a child's dream.

Five Question Friday

For a bit of lightheartedness this fine Friday!

1. What's the last thing you spent too much money on?
Card Making Supplies!!! Oy! Don't even get me started on THAT addiction!

2. What celeb chef would you want to make you dinner?
Paula Dean! I love butter and cheese...

3. Where do you hide things when visitors pop over or do you let them see the real deal?
Usually my kitchen is a mess...and so I quickly shove things into the oven! Sadly that has had some DIASTEROUS results! Melted plastic anyone?

4. Who is your oldest living family member?
My Great-Uncle Frank! He's in his 90's and chipper as ever! I love Uncle Frank! He's my Grandfather (deceased)'s Older Brother and quite a kick!

5. What is your favorite DQ treat and/or Sonic drink combo (ie: cherry vanilla dr. pepper)?
Oh I love Sonic's Happy Hour! I always get a Strawberry Limeade!

What fun questions to answer this week! Thanks for stopping by!

Five Question Friday 9/30

I've been sooo busy that I haven't had a chance to type up any homeschooling posts lately...but I promise to get up at least my MFW highlights this weekend!

But for today, how about something fun and easy like...
1. Do you apologize to your kids if you're wrong?
Yes! I think it's VERY important to maintaining a relationship with my kids. I have asked for forgiveness if I've done something wrong. I have to work hard at remembering to do it though...but then since when is it EVER easy to say we are wrong and ask forgiveness???

2. Do you have a class ring, Letterman's jacket, or similar obscenely priced high school "must have"?
LOL! No. I have a "letter" with a lot of bars and medals on it...but never could fork out the moola for the jacket to put it on!

3. If you could be one age for the rest of your life, what age would you choose?
This is tough...I have experienced so many wonderful things at so many different ages. I had the joy of meeting my hubby at age 22 and getting married at 23. I had the blessing of my son at age 25 and then the blessing of my second son at 30. Then of course there is the excitement of graduating high school at age 18--or the joy of just being a child at age 5...

I would say the age I would be for the rest of my life...is the one I turn each year! LOL! Is that a cop-out?? :0)

4. What is your favorite (unused) baby name?
Oh that's easy...we never used our girl name--so if we have a girl next time around we will be using the name Chloe.

5. If you could make your child like something what would it be?
Oh that's even easier! I would love for him to like to do his chores! LOL!

Five Question Friday

1. If you had a weekly newspaper column, what would you name it?
Deliciously Simple--I love to cook and I'm always trying to find new recipes that fall under the 30 minutes or less category! I would love to share these with people to help them make yummy meals without a lot of hassle!

2. Who is your mentor/inspiration?
My inspiration...well I'm going to have to say that my inspiration is King David. I mean, that man went thru more trials because of stupid mistakes he made than most--yet he always got on his knees for forgiveness and help from the Lord.

If only I was so quick to do the same...

3. What is your wake up beverage of choice?
Mmm, a delicious ice cold glass of yummy fresh squeezed orange juice! Unless it's fall and winter--then a nice cup of cocoa, lightly laced with coffee and liberally with whipped cream!

4. Would you wear your mom's clothes?
95% of the time I would have to say no...but every now and then she finds something that I would gladly wear! Actually one of her rejects is one of my most favorite cardigans to wear with a skirt to church!

5. When you were a kid, did you put posters on your wall? If so, what were they of?
Yes...but they were volleyball posters. I was a hardcore volleyball fan and so I had pictures of Gabby Reese and the Volleyball "No Fear" posters.

I love the questions we get each week...some of them really make me think! Have a lovely day!

Friendly Five Question Friday

Aren't you glad it's Friday??! This week has been so wacky with our crazy overnight fall weather and then the incessant rain day after day...good thing I ADORE fall and I'm used to rain...I grew up in the Pacific Northwest--it's just liquid sunshine!

Let's get down and enjoy...

1. What ringtone do you have on your cell phone?
I am one of those people who have different ringtone's programed for different people. That way I know instantly if it's my hubby or a family member or someone not on my contact list. I'm kinda lazy like that! And what's the ringtone for my hubby (he calls the most)? Amarillo Sky!

2. What is your favorite memory from this summer?
Ooh, that's tough. Probably getting our classroom set up for starting our adventure in homeschooling!

3. Paper books or e-books?
That's rhetorical right? Um hello...PAPER books! I have to hold it in my hand...smell the paper...feel the pages...that I don't own a Kindle or Nook anyways...

4. If you could have one home upgrade what would it be and why?
A room addition to move the classroom OUT of the office and into it's own room so that I could keep everything out and organized all the time.

5. When was your first serious boyfriend/girlfriend?
I was a late dater because I didn't like the boys at school enough to give them my time...AND I was on sports teams, in symphonic band and jazz choir! So my first serious boyfriend wasn't until I was 20!!! And he was the only other boyfriend I ever had besides my hubby!

Oooh those were good questions! Can't wait to see what will be on the list for next week!

If you are participating in Friendly Friday, here is the link up so you can find your next stop! Thanks so much for coming by!

Five Question Friday

1. Shoes in the house - yay or nay?
Eh, we typically DON'T wear them in the house, but I'm not going to stop you at the door to take them off. I have piano students who always take their shoes off before coming inside...I never make them, so I think their mom's must tell them too! LOL!

2. What do you call them- flip flops, slippers, thongs, etc?
Flip Flops...because Thongs go somewhere else...;o)

3. What song are you almost embarrassed to admit you know all the lyrics to?
Um...the Thomas the Tank Engine song "There's 2 there's 4 there's 6 there's 8...shunting cars and hauling freight..." The joys of having small Thomas loving children.

And of course random songs from the 90's...I mean I WAS a teenager during the 90's so I know a TON of the songs like the back of my hand! LOL!

4. What is the best quality to have in a friend?
An ear to hear...I need a friend who will just LISTEN to me...and then someone who I can bounce ideas off of. Who loves me no matter what stupid stuff I say.

5. Do you know what you want for Christmas?
Well, I don't celebrate Christmas, but I still know what I want for the Christmas weekend...SNOW!
