I have been blessed to have been a member of the review team for new Christian Fiction author Connilyn Cossette, since her very first novel was released. I rejoiced again when she published the second book in the series. Here I am again, sharing another review for the Out of Egypt series--this time the conclusion to the trilogy Wings of the Wind. The series has blown me away thus far--would the conclusion continue to demonstrate the incredible storytelling of Connilyn Cossette?

About Wings of the Wind

Wings of the Wind is the third and final book in the Out of Egypt series by debut author Connilyn Cossette. This book picks up about 20-30 years after book #2 in the series. This series follows
the journey of the Israelites from their time leaving Egypt, to the arrival in the Promised Land--a 40 year span. This book opens shortly before the Israelites do cross the Jordan River to move into the Promised Land--and follows events leading up to it, as well as to the taking of Jericho. The key figures in this book Alanah and Tobiah.

Alanah is a Canaanite woman who secretly joined an army to avenge the deaths of her brothers by the hands of the Israelites. She just wants to die as they did---and doesn't count on actually surviving the battle. She's rescued by Hebrew warrior Tobiah, who discovers her in the aftermath of battle, bloodied and wounded. He takes her back to his tent to see a Hebrew healer and thus begins their tumultuous relationship, for he soon realizes the only way he can protect her is to marry her--his enemy.

What follows is a story of sacrifice, courage, redemption, betrayal, and so much more.

My Thoughts on Wings of the Wind

Wings of the Wind is a stirring tale of faith. Of hope being renewed time and time again, even in the most trying of circumstances. It’s about standing with courage in the face of adversity, when you must put your sole trust in God to save you. It’s about finding your place in God’s purpose—even when you can’t believe He would deem you worthy of His attention. It’s about accepting God’s promises as we walk in faith. Truly seeing and believing t"hat ALL things work together for good to those who know the Lord and are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)

This novel is more than historical fiction. If you let it, it will have you examining your own faith. One fo the moments that really hit me deeply was when Alanah experiences manna for the first time and she just can’t believe that no one else cares anymore that it’s the most incredible thing—to have it provided without sweat, blood, and tears…and for it to be the most amazingly sweet and delicious food ever eaten. She calls them out for taking it for granted. (and biblically, this is a point where they DO take it for granted) And to me—I just couldn’t stop thinking about the calling of God in my life. I have believed and obeyed for a long time—my whole life really—but do I still get excited about it? Do I love it as much now as when I first had my eyes really opened? Have I grown complacent about my beliefs and love of God's way?

The story brought me to damp eyes, and then finally to flowing tears. There were "Oh!" moments when things happened and plots were connected that made me smile at the author's cleverness. And Alanah was so relateable. The things and thoughts she experienced. They were applicable to real life. I loved how the author brought to life scenarios and events from the Bible that may only be a couple verses--but she dives into what it might have been like for the people there. And she did it flawlessly and it was so believable. It gave me new meaning for so many passages in those books of the Bible related to the story.

It is very easy for me to give this book my highest rating of 5 stars. The story sucked me in--I couldn't put it down! And making me have such an emotional ride--perfect. The icing on the cake was allowing me to apply the story to my own spiritual life. These characters were brilliantly brought to life and I loved "meeting" some past ones again. Of the three books in the series, THIS ONE is my favorite!

I cannot wait to keep reading more from Connilyn Cossette--she has a new book to come out...NEXT YEAR! (SOB) But the good news is that it's a new series--but with a couple characters from the Out of Egypt series. Woot! If you haven't explored the Out of Egypt series yet, I highly encourage you to do so! You won't regret it!
