Stop the presses! I not only just finished another actual crochet GARMENT, but I actually like it! Okay, I LOVE it! So today this post will be short. It will simply be me showing you the finished pictures of my Pretty Pink Sorbet Tee Top and chatting about how the construction of it went! Yarn: Cotton Fair "Pink Pop" by Premier Yarns (3 skeins)
Hook: F (3.75)
I snagged this top for free in one of the free pattern Fridays that Expression Fiber Arts offers in their newsletter. I looked at the design and thought it would be something I could see myself actually wearing. I am so glad I snagged it! The design is very very simple--two pieces. You make identical pieces for the front and the back, and then simply seam them together. It can't get much easier than that.
Now let me say something about this yarn---GO GET IT! It is the EASIEST yarn to use and I didn't have any problems with it at all. The name is Cotton Fair by Premier Yarns. It is a cotton/Acrylic mix, making it IDEAL for garments. It's washable and even better, the weight is #2--a fingerling--which is THE best weight for garments. It's not too thick and bulky--not at all! I found the yarn at Michaels and Pat Catans. I have actually snagged myself some of it in white too...just to stash. I think I need to get it in like every color.
Now as for the making of the garment. My first problem came with the gauge. I hate gauging, but I have learned the necessity of it for garments. This garment calls for 19dc in 4". But with an H hook. Bwahahahahaha. Yeah right! I got 13 in 4" with that hook. I went down a size and got to 15dc. So I went down ANOTHER size and with an F hook I got 17dc and called it good. I think if I went down one more size (an E) I might have gotten it...but I HATE working with small hooks. So an F worked for me. I sized it out that a medium would work the best for me. I don't know HOW anyone can get 19dc with an H hook. I don't care HOW thin of a fingerling you might work with! I'm a very tight crocheter--so if I can't even get to the right gauge--oy! LOL
Everything was straight forward in the making. In fact, it went so well I didn't even realize my mistake until I had already fastened off. I accidentally forgot to do THREE repeats of the final 4 rows. So I only have TWO decorative rows near the yoke instead of four. But once it was done and I tried it on, I realized that four may have been too many for my liking anyways. The only major alteration was that I needed to decrease the armhole. I seamed it up 18" instead of the called for 13" because I wanted a more cap sleeve type at the top. 
But when it was done, oh my. I just loved it! I picked colors to go with two of my cardigans as I wanted to wear this for more than one season. And I cannot wait until church, so I can enjoy wearing something I crocheted myself! I highly recommend this pattern to ANYONE who can do at least a dc and is willing to try a new small puff stitch (also super easy). Then you simply have to know how to whip stitch the sides together.If you think you want to try a garment--I would highly recommend this pattern! I will definitely be making it again. I will make a couple adjustments, but otherwise, I expect it to be an easy go, especially since I know what to expect! It works up quickly too. I think it maybe took 4-7 hours total. That is a GREAT speed for a garment like this! It's deceptively easy!
So what are you working on these days? I finished my first garment for the year and my third project of the year--putting me at 20% of my total challenge total of 15! You remember, I'm determined to be more intentional in my projects this year. This takes another WIP off my list and a new garment in my closet!
